THE WINNERS of the A MAZE. Awards 2017
The Most Amazing Game Award went to…
Everything by David O’Reilly (US)
“As the most amazing game 2017 we have chosen a game that delivers an exceptional, urgent, hilarious and beautiful message about us things being in it together. No matter size and label we are part of the same fundamental substance and in that sense we cannot fail our game of existence”, explained Trine Laier.
The Long Feature Award went to…
Orwell by Osmotic Studio (DE)
“Coming generations will not know what it is like to live an unconnected life, a life in which you can misbehave at a party and not pay the price ten years later. Orwell forces you to reflect on your freedom of self, through a series of uncompromising choices and consequences that progresses the “page turner” story”, noted Daniël Ernst.
The Digital Moment Award went to…
Everything Is Going To Be OK by Nathalie Lawhead (US)
“It’s the strength of personal work such as Everything Is Going To Be OK that reminds us how interactivity is an essential tool to discuss optimism, expectation, frustration, and struggle. This “digital moment” is as profoundly political as it is subversive in its relationship with the player”, pointed out Pietro Righi Riva.
The Human Human Machine Award went to…
Word After Word by Jonah Warren (US)
“This years winner of the Human Human Machine Award represents the kind of progress we are looking for in multiplayer games. We’re proud to note that none of the nominees have been shooters or beat-em-ups, but show interesting new approaches to collaboration and competition, that challenge new kinds of skills which we don’t often see in that genre”, so Henrike Lode.
The Collider Award went to…
FRU by Through Games (NL)
“We chose Fru because it made the 2D platformer feel fresh, and it made Kinect feel a worthwhile peripheral”, said Jim Crawford.
The Audience Award went to…
VinylOS by Josef Who? and Jonas Bo! (AT)
