»The Postman’s Decision Is Final« (2006) is a small performance using the postal system. Two postcards are stuck together so that only the address sides are showing. Each side is stamped and addressed to two different people, then posted. Somewhere along the line a decision is made as to which person receives the card. By Dan Rees.

»Dictionary of Imaginary Places« 2006, is a site specific intervention at Ljubljana international airport. During the current expansion of the airport terminal the six line messaging service of the departure board has been modified to a twelve line, and a test program is being run every night to establish the capabilities of the old mechanical messaging service. In order not to confuse the remaining night time passengers with recognizable destinations, the developed software was set to automatically upload names from A. Manguel’s and G. Guadalupi’s Dictionary of Imaginary places which cites over 1.200 entries of imaginary cities, islands, countries and continents restricted to: no heavens or hells, no places in the future, none outside the planet Earth and no pseudonymous places. In the work Connecting, Victoria Skogsberg recreates a popular ‘psi’ experiment that tests the possibility of receiving messages from the subconscious. In the ‘real’ experiment the ‘receiver’ is situated in a sound proof room, seated on a comfortable reclining chair wearing headphones and large black glasses. White noise is played continually through the headphones and the glasses, equipped with stroboscopic lights, are programmed to emit red flashes into the eyes which allow the body to relax. Skogsberg’s re-creation contains similar props to the real experiment but takes place in what seems like a domestic environment excluding the apparatus and technical equipment we would assume to belong in such a place. Her image suggests that with the right state of mind and a few simple tools it may be possible for anyone to connect to a higher realm.
