COPYSTAND: An Autonomous Manufacturing Zone“, 2009 by Stephanie Syjuco. Five day performative counterfeiting event held within its own gallery booth at the Frieze Art Fair. During the week, a cadre of three to five artists in a Production Area re-created artworks found in other booths and displayed them in a formal Gallery Area. All works were available for purchase at a mere fraction of the cost of the originals.

»Jordache ¾ Sleeve Snap Front Woven Shirt (Express Blue)« from 2003-4 by Zoë Sheehan Saldaña. Originally purchased on July 16, 2003 for $11.43 from the Wal-Mart store in Berlin, Vermont. The clothing was duplicated by hand, matching pattern, fabric and embellishments. The tags from the original item were sewn into the duplicate. The duplicate was returned to the rack in Wal-Mart for potential sale at $11.43.

Proben A-K. Over a few week period of exploring the supermarkets, analysing their structure and positioning of products, Jochen Schmith staged falls on the so called hot spots. Those are often marked by the product towers and are also there to leade the streams of shoppers into the right direction. The reaction of the customers led to the creation of so called “chaoscommunities”, which were right away occupyed by trying to restore the order.
