Booked this hotel as I keep trying to find a hotel close to a client site. Had high hopes for the holiday inn based on location and name. Due to circumstances outside my control I had to cancel my trip. The agent informed me that it was nonrefundable but that they would contact the hotel for me to see if the management would refund my money or give me voucher for a future stay. After 5 phone calls, they were finally able to get the GM on the phone who refused a refund or a voucher. I just spent 900 dollars for an empty room. Ridiculous.

I stayed here two nights for work and its my favorite hotel in NYC so far! Keep in mind I came for WORK so I was never in my room and I never ordered room service (but seriously - who orders room service at the Holiday Inn when you're within walking distance of some of the best areas in NYC!)

The bed was SO comfortable and the room was quiet, cool and clean. The staff was friendly and the overall decor of the hotel was nice. Its certainly no amazing boutique hotel but for a good deal and clean and quiet its great!

Ok, so I guess my review doesn't really count but.. a relative really, REALLY had to use the bathroom and we just walked in here, asking the guy on the bottom floor if we could use the bathroom really quick. He took a glance at our clothing and looked at us and asked if we were staying there and when we answered no, he said it in a terrible attitude. That kind of attitude is disgusting. We went to a hotel in Times Square to use the restroom and the security guard had no problem at all guiding us.

First of all, I guess if someone thinks this place is overpriced, they must live somewhere other than New York or San Francisco, because I was so shocked at the low $162 per night rate that I was afraid I was going to check in to a dump.  I kept procrastinating on making my reservation and then I thought (duh) to check yelp.

I know so many people who pay $400 + when they come to NYC....$162 is SO CHEAP. After reading many of the reviews on Yelp, I decided to give it a go.

When my shuttle pulled up to the front of the building I was so happy to see it wasn't a dump.  I read a review that said the lobby was "run down", I didnt think so. It was clean and there were alot of windows and light. The front desk personnel were so friendly and helpful. I walked into my room and it was so cute! YES it was small....hello.... this IS New York....But it was decorated so nicely and it had really tall windows to lighten up the room, simple yet nicely decorated...marble bathroom counter, great shower with great pressure, coffee machine with delicious coffee, not to mention there is an iron and ironing board in the room (I usually have to request something like that in other hotels I have stayed at), plenty of towels, coffee, shampoo, soap, razors and shaving cream on request, etc.

I was so impressed with this place, especially for the price...I don't even think it's (Holiday Inn) that cheap in San Francisco to be honest. At any rate, I had a window to look out of onto the street ( my daughter stayed at another New York hotel last year and her window opened onto a brick wall from the building next door ...(the wall was right in the window)...so...yes this place was well worth the money... also the location is awesome, I am close to EVERYTHING..I am actually using their WiFi to write this review on my laptop whilst sippin' on my California Zin...ahh this is the life.  I will def come here again when I visit my sister next time.

My family and I have never been to New York, therefore we had no idea if this area would be good. Well, to our surprise this hotel was perfectt! The service was amazing! Kelvin the bell boy was very helpful and attentive! It is a great location and clean rooms!

It's a decent place, but the location is 4-star material. This is a great place for business trips, and especially for those of you who don't want to stay in your room the whole time you're there, but don't have a ton of time to wander far from your hotel every night.

I've stayed here twice on business trips for about 3-4 nights / trip. The hotel itself is ok - nothing great, nothing horrible, and usually relatively cheap (considering everything in NY is hella-expensive). The staff has always been helpful, the beds were fine, and the bathrooms were clean with good shower pressure. I made the mistake of getting room service once (not worth the money - I should have walked my lazy self to the McDonalds down the street, it would have been a better meal for a quarter as much), and wouldn't get food from there again.

The location is great, though. Less than a block from the train, and walking distance to all the fun that is Soho, Chinatown, and Little Italy. Plenty of places to shop and eat, that's for sure. I'd go back there again and not think twice about it. The only reason I'm not is because I want to explore a new part of the city.

I got this hotel cause Priceline told me so. The cheapest package that's located IN Manhattan. It's a decent hotel. I'm honestly not too picky. As long as it's clean, the bed isn't as hard as a rock, and I have my own bathroom.

The location was very strategic cause it's so close to Little Italy, Chinatown, and SoHo. I ended up eating chinese food every damn day. The staffs were friendly. What's not to like?

Ridiculously overpriced for a Holiday Inn, but somewhat of a deal for NYC.  It's not much different than any other mid-range hotel, good services, good location, and friendly staff.  The rooms were fine, nothing special, nothing bad.
Avoid the restaurant, even for breakfast.  Ridiculously expensive and crappy food.

Staying at the Holiday Inn Soho was interesting, to say the least. I'll just list the pros and cons because there were some great things about our stay, and some...not so great things.

    Pros:
-Fantastic location. Just on the edge of Chinatown, Soho, and Little Italy. You get the best of New York when staying here because you can experience so many different areas in such a small vicinity.
-Comfortable beds. I don't know what brand the mattresses are but I was in heaven. The sheets and comforter feel luxuriously soft.
-Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Anything you need, they've got it for you. If they don't, they'll find a way to get it to you.
    -Good price.
-Clean rooms and bathrooms. Kept up very well.

    Cons:
-Changing rooms 3 times. The first had a queen bed even though we requested 2 doubles. The second room was obnoxiously noisy and we couldn't sleep from the construction going on outside the building. Our third room was finally what we wanted: 2 double beds and hardly noisy. It was upsetting to have to keep moving.
    -Small rooms. Tiny tiny tiny!
-Room service. Our food was ice cold upon arrival. We sent it back, only to have the wrong order sent the second time. The third time it was right, but not very good.
-Noisy. You can sometimes hear your neighbors and, depending on where the room is, lots of outside honking and sirens.

It was a nice place to stay without breaking the bank. We had some problems, but the funny thing is, we're not picky! They were just unable to get a couple things right. But the staff were always willing to help and fix anything unsatisfactory. I love the location, right smack in the middle of some great food and shopping spots. The rooms are small but cozy and comfortable. I would come back, but maybe not if I had more money next time!

    First to Review

a nice, decent hotel for NY. They had the best rate for December.
The rooms were quite clean, a little small but in NY, who wants to stay in their room??
The location is wonderful, walking distance from Soho, China Town, Little Italy and fantastic shopping on Prince street, spring and Bleeker.
the only downside was the walls of the rooms were a little 'thin'... some mornings you could hear your neighbors :) but otherwise, I'd go back again, no doubt!

I stayed here a few years ago and loved the location.  It was at the steps of Chinatown and a short walk to SoHo. The subway around the corner made things very easy. Service was good but don't use their town car. The guy steps on the brakes too hard.  I don't recall anything about the room except it was dated and the window faced another building.

Our first trip to New York and we were super stressed out trying to find a clean hotel in the right location, with 2 beds in a room, at a price we could afford.   We finally decided on Holiday Inn because of the good reviews.  We were happy with the location being very close to the subway, and close to great shopping and many restaurants.  The room was not large but had the two comfy bed we needed.  Very clean..no bedbugs here!  The employees were all very nice and helpful.  Next time we come back to NY we will return to Holuday Inn Soho.

Hotel accommodations and location were good enough for my stay.  The only downside was with the billing.  Basically, I was charged twice for the room (once when I checked in and again at checkout as the actual charge).  Other places do this when you pay during your time of stay, but one charge/hold usually drops off or is credited back upon checking out.  That did not happen here. In the end, over a week later, I had to request that the hotel contact my credit card company to resolve the issue.  The amount of money being held up was not insignificant to me.

The Holiday Inn is located right in China Town and a convenient walk from the fashionable SoHo shopping area. The rooms were clean but nothing special and the staff were friendly enough, though the lobby furniture was kind of run down. My boyfriend and I were there on a business trip and it was conveniently located to the conference we were attending.

The reason why I give it only two stars is because of several mistakes on the part of the staff. We booked a single-bed, non-smoking room with special assistance, since my boyfriend is disabled. The first room they gave us when we checked in didn't have any special assistance, making it extremely cumbersome for my boyfriend to get around (he couldn't even get into the bathroom). So minus one star for that. We then requested a different room, but they gave us a double-bed room instead, so minus another star for not getting us the room we had booked.

The other thing was that we had a package shipped to the Holiday Inn for our business function. UPS had confirmed that it was received and signed for the day before we checked in. Upon inquiry, the front desk was unable to find the package but said they'd call us when they did. 5 hours later we still hadn't heard from them, so we asked again and they still couldn't find it but again reassured us they'd look for it and call if they found it.  2 more hours later, we were finally escalated to a manager and he was able to find it in less than 10 minutes. So minus another star for that episode.

I was skeptical at first about staying at a Holiday Inn... but I was pleasantly surprised! The room was clean.. very small... but clean! The front desk was attentive and friendly at check in, as well as the numerous times that I misplaced my key and needed to get a new one!.. House keeping was very attentive as well and we were brought extra towels promptly after requesting them, and you can't beat the $200 rate! My previous feelings about staying in a hotel like a Holiday Inn have now passed, and I would probably do it again at this location.

    Listed in Manhattan Transfer

Affordable hotel in a good location.  Walking distance to Chinatown and Greenwich Village.  The rooms are clean, a bit dated. As you enter the doorway, there is a escalator that goes up to the hotel lobby.  There is also a chinese restaurant upstairs, adjacent to the lobby.  I've had food delivered to my room, it's decent. Located right across the street from a coffee shop, that is shabby but convenient.  Great location and room prices.  Three and a half stars, rounded up for the location.

this is my second visit to the same hotel, just that this one is two years after my first. i'm not staying in a suite for a few hundred dollars, but i think that my $160/night charge is well worth the price. the hotel itself is clean and well kept..the fitness room is really small but it's sufficient.  the front desk staff are very helpful and accommodating as noted by most other reviewers; the person that checked us in made sure that we had everything we needed a few minutes after we'd gotten settled into our room.

as for the rooms, they're pleasant to spend a few days in. there are four of us splitting two full sized beds - a bit cramped but it's fine for just a few nights. the rooms here are definitely small compared to hotel rooms in bigger, spacier cities, but considering the fact that this IS downtown manhattan, the rooms are just about right in size. housekeeping service is good; if you need anything like razors or toothbrushes they're willing to provide. as someone else had mentioned, the breakfast here is ridiculously overpriced for all-you-can-eat basics of eggs, bacon, and toast, among various other breakfast staples.

the main purpose of my review is to let future visitors know how convenient this location is. its just one block from canal street in the heart of chinatown! you can get your fake coach bags, rolexes, and i love ny t-shirts just steps away from multiple chinese bakeries filled with yummy egg tarts and pork bun breads. if you're after clothing and accessories that don't carry the risk of turning green after a few hours of wear, you might try walking one block north to hit broadway, where you can shop to your heart's content for blocks to follow. the only thing you'd want to watch for are the insane crowds that flood the shops in the midafternoon on weekends, prime touristing time. i'm not ashamed to say that i'm one of them =]

Stayed for our trip to NY and it was better than what I had expected for a Holiday Inn! Location was great too! It was in SoHo and basically central to almost everything.  The subway station was just around the corner too which was very convenient!  Too bad we found out so late cuz we walked our butts EVERYWHERE.

The front desk staff was friendly.  Room was small but still really nice!  Bed was really comfy! A big thing for me is to have a warm and comfy bed and Holiday Inn did not fail me!  They offered great amenities such as razors and shaving cream if you happen to forget them at home. THAT'S AWESOME!

The housekeeper was a little pushy but I can't blame her - she wanted to clean the room as early as possible but we couldn't get outta bed until the afternoon from our horrible hangover =(

One thing that sucked was that not every floor had a vending machine and ice machine so we'd have to travel up to different floors for different things - one floor for ice machine, another for beverages and another for snacks.

When we left, the concierge was very friendly and helpful!  Left them our bags and told them we'd be back by 4pm to go to the airport and he arranged for a black cab to take us there.  Overall, I enjoyed my stay there and would probably go back if I visit NY again!
