According to Ken Burns' documentary Jazz, this album was never made.. Well actually his history of jazz stops at about 1961, as to suggest that this history of jazz stopped 40 years ago.

Jazz purist denounce this album as "Not Jazz" and I guess Mr. Burns must have taken their word for it. Its too bad though because it is one of the most important Jazz albums ever made, and has to be one of my all time favorites..

Purist called Miles Davis a sell out for incorporating electronic studio techniques and instruments into his music.. Jazz is supposed to supposed to evolve, and it has in the last 40 years regardless of whether or not Ken Burns cared to watch.
